Professor Sasha Roseneil serves as an Advisor to the Angiza Foundation, bringing over three decades of experience in higher education leadership, social research, and equity advocacy. She is currently the Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Sussex, a role she began in August 2022.
Before joining Sussex, Professor Roseneil was UCL’s first Pro-Provost for Equity and Inclusion and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social and Historical Sciences. Her previous leadership roles include Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Essex, and senior positions at Birkbeck, University of London, and the University of Leeds.
An internationally recognised scholar, Professor Roseneil’s pioneering research explores intimate relationships, citizenship, and social movements. Trained originally as a sociologist and later as a group analyst and psychotherapist, she has been instrumental in shaping the interdisciplinary fields of Gender Studies and Psychosocial Studies.
She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the Institute of Group Analysis, and a Founding Scholar of the British Psychoanalytic Council. Through her work, she continues to inspire inclusive leadership, social change, and empowerment values at the heart of the Angiza Foundation’s mission.
