Position Overview:

The Translator will play a vital role in translating the children’s magazine and social media content into Afghan dialects, including Farsi and others. This position is crucial to ensuring Angiza's materials are accessible to a broader audience, enhancing the organisation's reach and impact. The translator will work closely with the editorial team, graphic designer, and social media and marketing officer to ensure translations are accurate, culturally appropriate, and engaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate the children’s magazine content into Afghan dialects, including Farsi and Pashto, ensuring accuracy and cultural relevance.
  • Translate social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook into Afghan dialects.
  • Proofread and edit translations to ensure they are error-free and meet high-quality standards.
  • Work with the editorial team, graphic designer, and social media and marketing officer to align translations with the overall tone and style of Angiza’s communications.
  • Adapt content to reflect cultural nuances and sensitivities, ensuring the translations resonate with the target audience.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Afghan dialects, including Farsi.
  • Familiarity in translating written content, preferably in the context of magazines or social media.
  • Understanding of cultural nuances and sensitivities related to Afghan dialects and audiences.
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills to ensure high-quality translations.
  • Capability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of Angiza.
